Understanding

A closer look

Bring the existing documents relevant to your concern. You do not need to arrange missing investigations yourself to prepare for the appointment.

Requesting a prescription through the online reception

If you need a prescription for ongoing treatment, you can select ‘Rezeptbestellung’ (prescription request) in our online reception. You can access it through ‘Open online reception’. Be as specific as possible about what you need. For a medicine, its name and strength as shown on the packaging or your current medication plan are helpful. For an aid or another prescription, such as physiotherapy, describe exactly what has already been discussed with you. A request is not an issued prescription. Whether a prescription can be provided or a query or examination is needed first is clarified separately. Where possible, allow enough time for this process, and do not rely on later processing of an online message for an urgent concern.

What to expect and next steps

Gathering existing reports for your appointment

Bring relevant medical letters and investigation reports to your booked appointment. If you have existing X-rays, MRI or CT scans, both the written report and images are helpful where possible. A QR code for image access or a CD may provide access to the scans. Reports and images complement each other; a list of individual terms from a report replaces neither. An up-to-date medication plan with its printed code, if available, is also useful. If your plan has no code, please bring it anyway. For a bone health question, include previous bone density scans, relevant laboratory results and details of any osteoporosis treatment so far. ‘Your first visit’ provides more detailed guidance.

Completing forms for your appointment

Follow the document instructions you receive for your specific appointment. If you have a form to complete, enter the information as you know it. Mark unclear questions, for example with ‘I am not sure’, rather than guessing an answer. An up-to-date medication plan or existing reports can supplement your information. If you get stuck on a form, explain which document and question are involved when contacting us by phone or in person. If you are asked to send medical documents, use the route agreed with you for that purpose. You can bring existing documents to your consultation according to the preparation guidance.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need new imaging before the appointment?
No. Bring existing relevant reports and images. A doctor will determine whether a new investigation would help answer your question.
Is my medication plan sufficient without a printed code?
Yes. A medication list without a code is also helpful. Please make sure it is up to date. Any code on the plan you bring should remain fully visible.
What should I enter if I cannot confidently answer a question on a form?
Mark the item ‘I am not sure’ and leave the question for clarification. This makes clear what still needs to be discussed without presenting a guess as a definite answer.
Will I automatically receive a prescription after an online request?
No. Selecting ‘Rezeptbestellung’ (prescription request) in the online reception initially sends us your request. Whether a prescription can be issued and how you will receive it are clarified separately.
