Overview

Organise your visit to OrthoCoast

Here are the main ways to organise your visit: appointments, preparation, documents and contact. Go straight to what you need to do.

How your visit begins

  1. We listen to you. Describe your symptoms and questions as clearly as you can.
  2. We examine you. The examination is guided by the symptoms you have described.
  3. We explain our assessment. We put your findings into context and explain whether further investigations would be useful.
  4. We plan together. We discuss the next steps with you.

Understanding

A closer look

You may want to book an appointment, ask a question about your documents or change an existing arrangement. You should not have to work out how our practice is organised internally first. In Patient services, choose the matter you need help with now.

Here you can find the next steps for a visit to OrthoCoast in Wolgast. If digital contact is unfamiliar or an option does not match your question, “Contact and directions” will help you make arrangements directly with the practice, by phone or in person.

Send an enquiry through online reception

Online reception offers another way to contact the practice. Its dedicated service page explains what it is used for and how to select the right category for your enquiry. The functions actually available are shown in the relevant service. An enquiry is not confirmation of an appointment or service.

Information about arzt-direkt is available on a separate page. You do not need to remember the names of technical systems to ask your question. If something does not work, contact us directly and briefly explain where you were unable to proceed.

Further information

Arrange treatment already recommended

If treatment has already been discussed with you, the follow-up appointment should relate to that recommendation. Arrange the treatment appointment through our online reception or by phone. “Treatment already recommended” provides guidance on making further arrangements. Please have any available details of the planned procedure and previous recommendation ready.

Always use a link or QR code you receive together with the practice's instructions. If access is missing or the options offered do not match the recommendation, please ask. Do not select a different appointment type just to complete the booking.

Book an appointment

Come prepared for your first appointment

We have put together a separate guide for your first visit. It helps you gather existing medical letters, medication details and examination documents. For imaging, both the written report and the images are helpful where possible, for example through a QR code or on CD.

If documents are missing, tell the practice. The guide helps you prepare; it is not a request to organise extra examinations yourself in advance. Specific instructions before or after treatment are available under “Preparation and aftercare” and in the information given to you personally.

If your needs or appointment change

If you cannot attend an agreed appointment, please inform the practice as early as possible. “Change or cancel an appointment” explains the intended route. If you received an email about your appointment, you can also use the cancellation option provided there. Sending a request to change an appointment does not by itself mean that a replacement appointment has been confirmed. If you no longer need an appointment, please cancel at least 24 hours in advance, counting working days only; weekends and public holidays do not count. For an appointment at 10 am on Monday, this means cancelling by 10 am on Friday. Please also let us know if you cannot attend at short notice. This allows other patients to use the appointment. Information about short-notice cancellations, a possible missed-appointment fee and repeatedly missed appointments is available under “Change or cancel an appointment”.

There is also a dedicated service area for results, prescriptions and forms. For acute symptoms, choose “Acute symptoms and emergencies” instead of a general administrative enquiry. That page brings together information about the different places to seek help.

What matters for your decision

Clarify costs before a self-funded service

If a service is not covered by German statutory health insurance and you would like to pay for it yourself, you receive a cost estimate before it is provided. For patients with statutory health insurance (GKV), the relevant self-funded service is only provided after they have signed the agreement. This allows the nature, scope and expected costs to be clarified beforehand.

No general cost information sheet is provided for patients whose services are billed exclusively to German statutory health insurance. Individual costs and possible reimbursement cannot be inferred simply from the name of a service. The “Costs and coverage” page explains more.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to arrange everything online?
No. If you need support or cannot proceed digitally, use the details under “Contact and directions”. A technical difficulty should not lead you to select an unsuitable option.
Does my enquiry mean I have a confirmed appointment?
Not necessarily. Check whether you are sending an enquiry or receiving a specific appointment confirmation. If the status is unclear, clarify it with the practice.
Can I simply send documents through any digital channel?
Please use only the submission route intended for your enquiry and follow its instructions. If you are unsure how to provide results or images, ask the practice. A general contact link is not automatically an upload service for medical documents.
